i can ride my bike with no handlebars!

The other day we had talk on cycling and why its important. The man who came in to talk to us talked mainly about the reasons why people dont cycle in ireland and so on. He talked about weather and windy narrow roads being very popular reasons not to cycle. It was a good talk and made me really want to cycle around just to help the environment. The problem of cycling to school is i live four miles from the school and the roads are quite dangerous :(

jabba jabba jembe and david :D

A couple of days ago we had a percussion workshop involving drums called jembe's which was really fun and interesting at first we were told to bring in the jembe's and there were about thirty or forty of them. Then we each took one and he started to show us how to play them. It was really good and it gave us a taste of some of the african culture which was an enjoyable experience! i definetly recommend it! and Charlie his dog is very cute :L

bog bodies??..

yesterday we went to dublin to go see the national museum of Ireland and the gallery of Ireland. The first thing Emnet did was go and visit the national museum and we looked at the prehistoric times. It was very interesting and im glad i picked history as a choice subject because it was really intriguing! After that we visited the bog bodies and that was amazing as the bodies were so preserved you wouldnt think they were thousands of years old! Then we went to the Yeats museum and that was fascinating as we learned all about his life and it was funny to compare it to my life as his was very different. After that we went to the national art gallery which i enjoyed but im not very interested in art so i probably enjoyed the museum a bit more. It was a very informative trip and very substantial for the leaving cert.

im off to college :D

for my work experience i went to university limerick. The reason i went was because i dont really know what i want to do when i finish school and i thought a good way to find out would be to go and try out the different courses and lectures. I found the work experience daunting at first as all the students were around and i felt awkward being there, but that soon changed when i got used to the place and got to know the students who were really nice and funny. What we did on a day to day basis was going to practical sessions or lectures in the different courses we did such as engineering, architecture, law, sciences(mostly biology and chemistry) physiotherapy and languages. From all the courses i went to i soon learned that my interest lay in science and i realised i really want to do something as a career in science maybe biomedical engineering. One of the days i even disected a rat which was pretty fun so i think all in all it was a great learning experience and im really glad i did it!

a trip to croke park...

before midterm we all went on a trip to Croke park. It was really enjoyable. Ive been there a couple of times but this time there was some new showings. at first we went into the meeting room and watched a film about the preperation of the all-Ireland football final, this was interesting as it wasn't so much focussed on the actual match but the preperation of it. Afterwards we went and saw the players changing rooms and the VIP area. This was pretty fun to see as it really is one of the few luxuries of the sport. After that we went to see the players dressing rooms, both dressing rooms are the exact same which shows the equality in the Gaa as in soccor stadiums the home teams dressing room is a lot more extravagant. one of the rooms that links to the dressing rooms is the training room which players can use to warm up and let out a bit of nerves. I liked that room. then we visited the highest seats which true to its name were very high and i didn't really like it as it was too high to actually see the match. Then we went to the corporate boxes which were nice but i dont like them as you dont get the atmosphere of actually being in the stadium with other people its all very excluded. to finish it of we went to the gaa museum which was fun as we played all the games! all in all it was a great day :D
